Kerri offers fee-based psychological services, and does not provide bulk-billing consultations. For individuals with a current Health Care Card, a reduced fee may be offered. Payment is required at time of your appointment. For information regarding fees and appointment availability, please contact Kerri on 0457 702 684.
In terms of consultations, Kerri offers both face-to-face appointments and Telehealth appointments via Telephone and secure Videoconference. Kerri uses Coreplus for Videoconferences, which is compliant with the Australian standards for online security and encryption.
Rural and remote services: Kerri is offering Telehealth services to country and remote clients through use of Telephone or secure Videoconferencing. If you reside more than 50 km from Adelaide, may be eligible for Medicare Rebates for rural and remote Telehealth consultations.
Can I claim the cost on Medicare or Private Health Cover?
To be able to access any Medicare rebates for psychology services you need to have a valid referral from a General Practitioner (GP), or a Psychiatrist, which must include a Better Access – Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), which has been accepted by Medicare. Once you have a MHCP, you can receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions in a calendar year (i.e. between January through to December). You would initially be covered for 6 sessions, then a review occurs, where the psychologist will write to the referring GP with a summary of treatment. If further sessions are seen as appropriate, your GP/Psychiatrist may then refer you for up to an additional 4 psychology sessions with Medicare rebates. If you attend without a valid referral, you will be charged the full session fee, and you will not be able to obtain a Medicare rebate.
Private Health Fund Rebates: it is recommended that you will need to check with your Private Health Fund to determine what they will cover prior to your first appointment; you will be responsible for the remaining gap payment.
Please note, if you have claimed a rebate from Medicare, you cannot make an additional claim for the same session from your Private Health Fund.
Please note, if you request services that are not covered by Medicare or a Private Health Fund, such as longer consultation times, or preparation and completion of letters or reports, you may be required to pay additional fees. Any additional fees would firstly be discussed with you. Payment may be required prior to the release of reports and letters.
Do I need a referral to consult with a Psychologist?
It is not necessary to obtain a medical referral to consult with a psychologist.
Please call Kerri on 0457 702 684 to enquire about current availability for appointments. Kerri consults on part-time basis and will respond to queries as soon as practical.
Cancellation and Missed Appointment Policy:
Kerri requires 24 hours notification of cancellation of appointments, otherwise fees are charged. If you do not attend your appointment or have not provided any notice, you will be charged the full session fee. This is because there are substantial financial costs to the psychologist arising from missed appointments.
The client is responsible for payment of missed appointment fees, as Medicare and third party insurers, including Private Health Funds, do not cover missed appointment fees.
